Professor M. Kamal Hassan is currently a Distinguished Professor   in the Faculty of Islamic revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences, International Islamic university Malaysia (I.I.U.M.). He obtained his first degree in Islamic studies from the University of Malaya in 1966, M.A., M.Phil. and Ph.D. from Columbia University, New York in 1970, 1972, 1975 respectively. His area of specialization is contemporary Islamic thought with special reference to Southeast Asia. From September 1996 until December 1998 he was a Visiting Professor and Chair of Islam in Southeast Asia at Georgetown University, Washington D.C. He served as the third Rector of I.I.U.M. for seven years from January 1999-2006. Voice of Islamic Moderation from the Malay World (2011) is his latest book. He is the editor of a 3-volume book on Natural Sciences from the Worldview of the Qur’an due to be out in December 2016.
